Desk Top printers are a light use compact version of the Direct Thermal / Thermal Transfer printers. Almost exclusively used in a healthcare or office type environment where environmental conditions are very mild and over all use is light (less than 50 labels per day).
Desk Top printers can be either Direct Thermal (no ribbon) or Thermal Transfer (with ribbon) and are limited in their capabilities. These are the simplest of thermal printers typically used to print simple 1 at a time type labels such as shipping labels or prescription labels for meds. Standard connection for these are USB, but can also have serial or parallel connections too. Some enhanced versions could include WiFi or Bluetooth capabilities.
