The Retail – Light Industrial environment is what we would consider the mildest. Typically these scanners are found at a point-of-purchase counter in a retail store or shipping desk of a warehouse where the conditions are very controlled and light simple scanning take place. These devices are simply used for input – scanning a UPC barcode or other type of item number for look-up.
Because of the light conditions these scanners are used in they are streamlined in terms of features. A “tethered” scanner is most common and one that is connected to a PC usually through a USB connection. Wireless or Bluetooth options are also available but will require a bit more set-up to begin. When talking with our experts other options can be considered and discussed such as CCD type imager vs. a laser barcode scanner.
As a low cost entry into the barcode scanning world these are limited in their capabilities, but the work horse in point-of-purchase, healthcare, and other desk based scanning applications. At Barcodes West we can help put the pieces in place to make your project successful as we offer options across all available manufacturers and models.
